First off let me begin by apologizing, i was not aware it was my turn to post so sorry for the lateness :/
this article really struck my interest and all i have to say is WOW! if all children could be like this - the world would be so much better off. it mentioned that sex in the Netherlands is treated like a physical activity between two adults in love. they dont just teach their kids to say "no", but why someone should say no and when to say yes. truly beautiful :D !!!

This article was VERY interesting. To read about young children ages 5 and up learning about sex education, and other sex related subjects was a bit extreme for me. From the article, these teachings seem to be successful, but this is wayyy to young for children to be learning about sex. 5 years old, really? I do believe sex education should be taught at younger ages, but definitely with children in middle school on up.I believe the innocence of children should be perserved as long as possible. And although that is sometimes not the case, we as a society should do everything in our power to at least try.

I took a lot of interest in this article. I compared the comments on what the young children in the Netherlands said they know about sex to what our children in the United States our taught at a young age. In class on Monday we discussed that when the child is in kindergarten they are taught about good touch, bad touch. But, in the Netherlands the same age is taught on a very more mature topic. I think that it is good that they start off young teaching children about sex because apparently it is something good to invest in because they have low birth & std rates. As we have learned in class we have a high rate of pregnancies in the United States and Missouri has one of the highest rates for Stds in the U.S. (interesting fact). I feel like if children here were taught in kindergarten more than just good touch, bad touch then we will have more progress in lowering birth rates because they will learn about protection at a young age so when they do begin engaging in sexual activity, they will have drilled in their head how to be safe. I do not completely agree with everything they do as far as the nine year old child watching a cartoon on how to masturbate, but I will say that I give them kudos for what they are doing because it is a good thing they have a low teen birth rates. United states need this! lol
